Recently, I got a chance to try few of the products from Native Food Store (www.nativefoodstore.com). It is the Chennai based online store where we can get the wide variety of healthy food products like instant herbal rice mix powder, millets, millet noodles, millet flakes, millet flour,  and much more. The millet flakes and millet noodles are very new to me and I never heard ever.

Usually we make variety rice of lemon rice, tamarind rice, tomato biryani or tomato rice for lunch box . For a change, I tried pirandai variety rice using pirandai rice mix for my hubby lunch box. He liked very much and my kids too. It was good and at the same time very healthy.

Ingredients ( 1 Cup = 240 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml )

½ cup – Rice
2 tbsp – Sesame Oil / Nalennai
1 tbsp – Adamant Creeper Rice Mix / Pirandai Mix
¾ tsp – Mustard Seeds / Kadugu
1 tbsp – Peanuts / Groundnut / Kadalai
1 tbsp – Bengal Gram / Kadalai Paruppu
1 tsp – Urad Dal / Uluththam Paruppu
 4 to 5 – Red Chilli / Vaththal
Curry Leaves
Sea Salt – as needed

How to make pirandai rice with step by step photos

1. Wash the rice well in water & pressure cook it along with 1/2 Tsp of salt for 1 whistle in the medium flame. When the pressure subsides completely open the cooker and spread the rice on a plate and cooled down completely.

2. Heat sesame oil in a pan, add mustard seeds. Let them splutters.

3. Add peanuts and saute until it turns crispy.

5. Now add urad dal and fry for sometimes.

7. Add curry leaves and splutter it.

9. This is the time to add the healthy instant pirandai rice mix powder.

10. Mix the powder well in the low flame for 1 minute. Make sure it should not get burnt. Then switch the flame off.
