The fish curry powder recipe followed by my grandma,then by my mom and me.Initially,my mom will prepare this meen curry masala podi at home in a bulk quantity. She will dry all the ingredients under the sun and give it to a flour mill and then store in an airtight container.Once all the preparations were done, she will give fish curry powder to my sisters and myself. Nowadays, I prepare myself at home in a small quantity and grinding in a mixer jar.

Ingredients ( 1 Cup = 240 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml)

For fish curry powder in a large quantity

Coriander Seeds/Dhania/Koththamalli – 1/4kg
Dry Red Chilli / Vaththal – 1/4kg
Kashmiri Red Chili – 100 gms
Mustard Seeds/Kadugu – 50 gms
Fennel Seeds / Perunjeeragam / Sombu – 50 gms
Whole Turmeric / Manjal – 15 gm
Curry Leaves – 4 handful

For fish curry masala in a small quantity

Coriander Seeds/Dhania/Koththamalli – 1 Cup
Dry Red Chilli / Vaththal – 2 Cups
Kashmiri Red Chili – 20 gms ( about 10 -12 nos)
Mustard Seeds/Kadugu – 10 gms ( about 1 tbsp)
Fennel Seeds / Perunjeeragam / Sombu – 10 gms ( about 11/4 tbsp)
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi – 1 tsp
Curry Leaves – 1 handful

How to prepare homemade fish curry powder at home with step by step photos

Fish Curry Masala Powder Ingredients - Meen Curry Masala Ingredients

1. If you are making in a bulk quantity dry all the ingredients under the direct sunlight for 4 to 5 hours or until the ingredients fully get dried and give to a flour mill for grinding.It will become hot while grinding at the mill.Spread the fish masala podi in a paper and completely cool them at home. Once it is cool store in an airtight container.

2. If you are preparing in a small quantity, dry roast all the ingredients one by one in a heavy bottom pan on a low flame and allow it to cool and grind in a mixer jar.Store meen curry podi in a container after cooled.

3. Colorful and natural flavor of homemade fish curry powder is ready. Use a dry spoon when you take from a container.
