      Hi Gita,

actually, asafoetida is a latex gum extracted from the several perennial plants belonging to the family of ferula. So it is not processed with maida or anything. in store-bought asafoetida has only 30-40% of pure asafoetida along with with rice flour or wheat flour or maida to make the powder form. Maida and with some other things are added in one of the famous brand of asafoetida powder what i used before. So nowadays i prefer to buy asafoetida blocks from stores.

Hi meeana, i am not sure which brand is good for making asafoetida powder. you can buy the whole asafoetida from the grocery store or try with any organic product if you can get. Maida is not good for our health but the rice flour is fine.
